The Employee Assistance Program helps employees and their families tackle whatever life sends their way. Individuals have 24/7 access to master’s-level specialists who are dedicated to offering solution-based consultations and to a network of more than 150,000 providers. The EAP WorkLife Services provides direct access to experts on child/parenting services, adult/elder services, convenience services, life learning and chronic condition support. - Calm – Download the Calm app for access to the premium version at no cost. Calm is the #1 rated app for sleep, meditation, and relaxation.
- Sanvello – On-demand help for stress, anxiety and depression. You can also track your daily mood, set goals and find coping tools for other tasks. Contact benefits@claremont.edu for the access code.
- Talkspace – A convenient, safe and secure online therapy platform that also offers in-app texting capabilities, voice and video messaging. With an authorization code from Optum, you can make an appointment with a virtual visit provider (this counts as an EAP visit). When texting a provider, five (5) days of texting counts as one (1) EAP visit. Please refer to the Step-by-Step Guide to obtain an authorization number.
- Terminology Guide – Talking openly about mental health can help reduce stigma over time. And understanding different terms used to describe different types of talk therapy providers may help an individual feel more comfortable seeking care.

- Coping after a Traumatic Event – In this time of uncertainty and stress, remember your Optum EAP benefits are available. Your EAP help line number is 1-800-234-5465 and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This service is free of charge. Specially trained Optum mental health specialists help people manage their stress and anxiety so they can continue to address their everyday needs.

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged savings account that allows you to set aside money to pay for qualified medical expenses such as deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, prescription drugs, dental and vision expenses, acupuncture, ambulance costs, doctor visits, hHearing aids, and psychological therapy/psychiatric care.
You can contribute to the HSA if you are enrolled in the Blue Shield High Deductible Health Plan.

A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a valuable employee benefit that allows you to have pre-tax dollars withheld from your paycheck to pay for eligible health care or dependent care expenses. It covers not just your medical expenses, but also the expenses of your spouse and tax dependents.
